چکیده

Zang, T.A., On the rotation and skew-symmetric forms for incompressible flow simulations, Applied Numerical Mathematics 7 (1991) 27-40. A variety of numerical simulations of transition and turbulence in incompressible flow are presented to compare the commonly used rotation form with the skew-symmetric (and other) forms of the nonlinear terms. The results indicate that the rotation form is much less accurate than the other forms for spectral algorithms which include aliasing errors. For de-aliased methods the difference is minimal.

On Some Properties and Estimation of a Skew Symmetric Density Function

In this paper we consider a general setting of skew-symmetric distribution which was constructed by Azzalini (1985), and its properties are presented. A suitable empirical estimator for a skew-symmetric distribution is proposed. In data analysis, by comparing this empirical model with the estimated skew-normal distribution, we show that the proposed empirical model has a better fit in den...

Stable finite-element calculation of incompressible flows using the rotation form of convection

Conforming finite-element approximations are considered for the incompressible Navier– Stokes equations with nonlinear terms written in the convection or rotation forms. Implicit time integration results in nice stability properties of auxiliary problems which can be solved by efficient numerical algorithms. The original nonlinear system admits relatively simple stabilization strategies. The pa...

The (R,S)-symmetric and (R,S)-skew symmetric solutions of the pair of matrix equations A1XB1 = C1 and A2XB2 = C2

Let $Rin textbf{C}^{mtimes m}$ and $Sin textbf{C}^{ntimes n}$ be nontrivial involution matrices; i.e., $R=R^{-1}neq pm~I$ and $S=S^{-1}neq pm~I$. An $mtimes n$ complex matrix $A$ is said to be an $(R, S)$-symmetric ($(R, S)$-skew symmetric) matrix if $RAS =A$ ($ RAS =-A$). The $(R, S)$-symmetric and $(R, S)$-skew symmetric matrices have a number of special properties and widely used in eng...

Evaluation of two lattice Boltzmann methods for fluid flow simulation in a stirred tank

In the present study, commonly used weakly compressible lattice Boltzmann method and Guo incompressible lattice Boltzmann method have been used to simulate fluid flow in a stirred tank. For this purpose a 3D Parallel code has been developed in the framework of the lattice Boltzmann method. This program has been used for simulation of flow at different geometries such as 2D channel fluid flow an...
